City hidden gem for gorgeous cherry blossoms
Eindelijk, het is weer lente! De kersenbloesem brengt een explosie van roze kleuren in New York. In Riverside Park, langs de Hudson River in Upper Manhattan, bezoek je de charmante ‘Cherry Walk’. Fun fact: zelfs veel locals kennen deze hidden gem niet!
De kersenbloesems, tussen 100th en 125th Street, trekken niet zoveel bezoekers als de bloesems in Roosevelt Island of ‘Cherry Esplanade’ in Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. De prachtige bomen op de Cherry Walk staan meestal de 2e helft van maart in volle bloei.

These cherry trees, between 100th and 125th Street, still don’t get as many visitors as the ones on Roosevelt Island or ‘Cherry Esplanade’ in Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. The magnificent Cherry Walk trees, gifted in 1909, are usually in bloom in the second half of March.

DUMBO, vooral Washington Street, geeft een prachtig uitzicht op de spectaculaire Manhattan skyline. Deze wijk in Brooklyn, met veel oude warenhuizen, barst tegenwoordig van de hippe winkels, koffiezaakjes en restaurants.
Zelf fiets ik graag over de Brooklyn Park Greenway en rijd ik helemaal door naar Red Hook. Picture perfect: vanaf de Valentino Jr. Pier (hidden gem) maak je dé beste foto’s van het Vrijheidsbeeld. Vóór je terug op de pedalen stapt, beloof me dat je eerst langs Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pie gaat? Hier geniet je van de beste Key Lime Pie ever!
In DUMBO, especially Washington Street, you will find one of the best view points of the stunning Manhattan skyline that NYC has to offer. This BK neighbourhood, with lots of old warehouses, is rich with trendy shops, coffee spots and restaurants.
I love biking all the way to Red Hook, via Brooklyn Park Greenway. Picture perfect: from the Valentino Jr. Pier you can take in a rare, face-to-face glimpse of Lady Liberty. Promise me to visit Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pie before you get back on your bike? Here you will taste the best key lime pie in your entire life!

Het is lente. Cheers! Beauty & Essex is een hele fijne plek om te proosten op de lente in New York. Deze verstopte gem is te vinden achter een grote, groene deur van een zogeheten ‘pawn shop’. Volgens New Yorkers is Beauty & Essex zelfs één van de mooiste restaurants/lounges/clubs van de stad! Op de kaart staan verrassend lekkere gerechten, die allemaal shareable zijn. En voor de liefhebbers van desserts: Wonder Wheel is een waar feestje!
Cheers to spring! Beauty & Essex, in the Lower East Side, is an amazing spot to celebrate the start of this season. Hidden behind a functioning pawn shop, Beauty & Essex is a true gem, also widely regarded as one of New York’s most beautiful restaurants/lounges/nightclubs!
Most of the dishes on the menu come shareable, as small plates. The food is surprisingly good! Good a sweet tooth? I would highly recommend the wonderful Wonder Wheel.
